Father Frost, tattoo inks and pick-up stations - Father Frost, tattoo inks and pick-up stations

The dark, cold season has been present for a few weeks now, and the increased use of packing stations naturally raises a special question for our industry: What is the situation with tattoo inks that spend the night in a packing station in winter?

How do cold and frost affect tattoo inks?

Everyone knows that tattoo inks should be used properly, but also stored. Most manufacturers specify a storage temperature somewhere between 4 ° to 35 ° Celsius. However, if it freezes at night, then logically you are below the recommended minimum temperature. We have contacted manufacturers and shipping service providers to verify that these low temperatures penetrate to the tattoo inks and whether this can damage the tattoo ink.

What do the shipping companies say?

The first question you have to ask yourself, of course, is whether it will be as cold in the package and on the product itself as the ambient temperature is outside the packing station. Temperatures in Central Europe tend to drop into the minus range at night in winter. Values such as -5 to -10° are still possible nowadays, despite the milder climate. So of course you would expect this cold to creep up to a package within 24 hours.

That's why we first contacted the shipping companies and were told that you can't make a general assumption about the ambient temperature of packing stations. Some are in sheltered places, where no frost at all occurs at night. Others are in exposed locations and can therefore be affected by wind and weather. Generally, the shipping service provider is not liable for frost damage, or in the summer even at very high temperatures. It is the responsibility of the recipient to pick up the package in time, so the statement.

What do tattoo and PMU ink manufacturers say?

We understand that the shipping service providers keep this request relatively flat, it should also be catchy that with unheated packing stations at different locations a defined statement is not possible. That's why we went further and wrote to the tattoo and PMU ink manufacturers.

The statement here is that there are, of course, in general storage recommendations that range from 4 °C to 35 °C. Each manufacturer has different specifications here, and these can also be seen on the respective product bottles, on the label. This labeling is mandatory, not only since the REACH law, and therefore you will really find this information on every tattoo and permanent makeup color. In any case, it is important to prevent direct sunlight and thus heat, as well as direct frost and cold. These two conditions are achieved, however, only if the tattoo pigments are also directly exposed to such external conditions for a long time.

All manufacturers of tattoo colors agreed that this is not the case with regular shipping and short-term storage of 24-48 hours in packing stations. Generally, yes the air is kept warm by the packing station and by the package so far that no complete frosting takes place here, at least not in our climes. We have also received several times the statement that low temperatures per se do not damage the paint. One should tattoo colors or permanent makeup colors after opening and proper shaking in color caps eingefülle to test whether the color behaves differently than usual. Only in extreme cases, according to manufacturers, it is possible that the color is lumpy and in this case you would actually have a damaged product. However, each manufacturer considers this very unlikely under the normal conditions mentioned. Therefore: tattoo and PMU colors also do not store in the freezer! ;)

What do we do against the freezing your tattoo ink?

So as far as you can already see, Central European climate in combination with Packstation shipping should not really be a problem, but we let us, and you of course not rag. Even many years before our current request to shipping service providers and tattoo ink manufacturers, we have recognized the importance of sensible shipping packaging. Not only in terms of protection from shock and movement, but also from external climatic influences, our greatest concern is that you can receive the goods ordered from us in perfect condition.

We insulate for all it's worth!

That's why we also pad each package sensibly and conscientiously with insulation material. We also make sure that this parcel accessories are made of ecological and / or sustainable material. So you will find together with your goods either reused styrofoam parts, where we also encourage you to reuse them as often as possible to avoid unnecessary new production. In addition, we fill the remaining gaps of your packages with paper shreds and mats, made from old cardboard with shredding machines, which are available to our distribution. Thus, we contribute to the intention and estimation of the ink manufacturers, who just say that with proper insulation and short stay in packing stations tattoo and PMU inks will not be the victim of frost and cold.
Do not let your tattoo colors freeze. We recommend, however, that you pick up your tattoo colors as soon as possible from the packing stations, or with the various delivery options that the various shipping companies now offer, the ordered products can be sent directly to your home. We hope you come well over the cold months and look forward to warmer months with you!
Until then, put on thick socks, throw on a jacket and off to the packing station!
