A thermal copier is used to create the copy of a tattoo template by means of colored wax. In this process, the colored wax is transferred from a coated carrier foil onto a sheet of paper. A very powerful lamp generates heat radiation in the device, thus the wax melts over the dark areas of the template and transfers the colored wax layer to the sheet of paper above it by means of pressure.
Since the heat is generated by absorption almost exclusively in the blackened areas of the template, a white sheet is the suitable background in any case.

In order to avoid a template jam and to keep the device clean, a suitable carrier is absolutely necessary. It must be able to withstand the heat generated during exposure. It is best to use the carrier supplied, which was specially developed for this application. Carriers are wearing parts and must be replaced from time to time.
As soon as the carrier becomes dirty or deformed, it should be replaced.

Info about template creation:
Unfortunately not every template is suitable. Our experience shows that especially in this area the
most common causes for bad or unusable copies.
unusable copies. The carbon content of the black ink is of decisive importance for the suitability of an original for thermocopying. However, this cannot be seen with the naked eye, which is why one must rely on experience or one's own tests.
Suitable originals are:
- B/W copies from a commercially available copier
- B/W printout from a laser printer (in general, matte originals are more suitable than glossy ones)
- Certain types of pencils / calligraphy pens (please try yourself)
Unsuitable originals are:
- B/W printout from a normal inkjet printer
- Felt-tip pens, ballpoint pens, colored pencils
- Letterpress or newspaper printing (in this case, however, a copy can be made of the desired page with a toner containing carbon)
Note: If copies are too weak, the slider must be set to a lower number. Should copies be too strong, the slider must be set to a higher number.
